I used CAD, machining, and circuitry to design a magnetic levitator, capable of suspending a magnet in midair.
I used a milling machine to create the PCB holder.
I used a lathe to create the electromagnet holder.
The completed Magnetic Levitator was capable of suspending a magnet airborne indefinitely!
It works by using an electromagnet to pull the magnet upwards. A sensor detect the instantaneous height of the magnet, and the strength of the electromagnet varies accordingly.
